The natural signals your body gives you when it knows spring is near
This past Sunday night I couldn’t fall asleep.
At first it felt a bit like I was anxious or stressed because I was restless and my mind was working overtime, but then I realized it was because I was excited.
Monday was supposed to be warm and sunny (and it sure delivered),☀️ and after the long, harsh winter we’ve had this year, it was the first time since fall I’d finally get to take my favorite long walk in the morning.🚶🏻♀️
I couldn’t wait to get out there and feel the freedom in my body when it gets to move unencumbered by multiple layers and puffy coats!
Even though my walk was all that I wanted with warm sunshine and gentle spring air, I was surprised by the heaviness still hanging around.
Frozen water still in the process of thawing.
The bare trees that still looked like winter.
It reminded me that we’re in one of those strange in-between moments that my best friend and I like to refer to as "patchy junctions".
If you take a moment to tune in, you might recognize that same in-between energy in yourself right now.
You’re so ready for a shift.
You desperately want to experience lightness, energy, momentum.
But instead you might notice:
• your body feeling sluggish
• your emotions a little flat
• your mind stuck in the same worries or loops
It’s easy to think something is wrong when you feel this way. (Trust me, I thought that way for years)
What if that heaviness is simply information?
Winter slows everything down: our bodies, our routines, our thoughts, even our emotions.
When things move slower, they feel heavier.
And when things begin to thaw, the contrast becomes more noticeable and starts to feel like stagnation.
Instead of interpreting all of this as a problem, try seeing it as a signal. A signal that points to what might be ready to be nurtured and tended to in your world
Maybe that signal is showing up in your body like it was mine.
A craving to move more, to breathe a little deeper, to rebuild strength after months of being more sedentary.
Or maybe the heaviness feels more emotional.
A sadness you can't quite explain, a desire to shed the old or let go of a story your mind has been replaying.
One of the most powerful reframes I’ve learned over the years is this:
You don’t have to wait for the external shift — the perfect weather, the perfect motivation, the perfect circumstances — before you allow yourself to feel a little lighter and more alive.
Sometimes things begin to change simply by allowing a little more movement back into your life.
Because the heaviness many of us feel right now isn’t random.
It’s often the beginning of things starting to sprout.
I'll be sharing some tips over the coming weeks to help support this process, but if you're curious to dive deeper, there's a special opportunity coming your way soon. Join the waitlist here to be the first to hear about it. 🌱
To the season of rebirth and new beginnings.
