A Softer Way to Meet the New Year

If you’re opening this email feeling a little behind in the New Year already, I want you to know — I’m right there with you.

It’s January everywhere we look we’re being told to decide, declare, optimize, and lock in goals for the year ahead. There’s an unspoken assumption that we’re energized, motivated, and ready to move forward at full speed.

But honestly? I’m not feeling that way.

And you might not be either.

Right now, I feel more reflective than driven. More quiet than ambitious. There’s a part of me that wants to do all the things, and another part that’s still tired — still integrating last year, still gaining clarity on how all that will influence what this year will look like.

From a feminine energy perspective, this actually makes a lot of sense.

January is not a natural “spring.”
It’s winter.
A quieter season.
A time when energy is meant to be conserved, not forced.
When wisdom comes from listening inward, receiving inspiration, and gathering insight. Not pushing outward, making moves or rushing forward.

So if you’re feeling unmotivated…

If goal-setting feels heavy or premature…

If you’re thinking, “I know I want something, but I’m not quite clear or ready yet” —

Nothing is wrong with you.

Instead of asking, “What do I want to accomplish this year?”

I’ve been sitting with gentler questions, like:

  • What feels like it's not working or feels ready to shift in my life right now?

  • What areas of growth feel exciting for me to think about?

  • When I consider my day, what energy do I want to carry with me?

This is feminine goal-setting — not forcing answers before they’re ready, but trusting that clarity emerges when we give ourselves permission to rest, feel, and respond honestly.

You don’t need a 12-month plan yet.

You don’t need a word of the year yet.

You don’t need to be “productive” yet.

You’re allowed to arrive slowly.

If it feels supportive, you might try this instead:

Choose one word or sensation you want to experience more of over the next few weeks — not the whole year. Something like ease, stability, breath, grounding, or warmth.

Let that be enough for now.

In a few weeks I'll be offering a Live Intention & Goal-Setting Workshop for those who want guidance and structure around this process. There’s nothing you need to do with that yet—I just wanted you to know what’s coming.

In the meantime, I'll be arriving slowly with you.

“Live the questions now.”
